Learn About Cliftondale Congregational Church
Finding a church that really cares about you, a place where you and your family can grow spiritually, is extremely important. We think of our church as one big family. Our label is “Congregational”, which means we identify with the Pilgrims who sailed to Massachusetts to seek religious freedom. We are a Christian church that upholds the authority of the Bible, and the saving work of the Lord Jesus Christ, Who died in our place, the Just for the unjust, to provide for us forgiveness and eternal life.
Here at Cliftondale Congregational Church, we try to:
- Follow the Bible, using it as our only source of God’s truth, and our final authority.
- Be practical and relevant to what’s happening in today’s world.
- Use normal, everyday language.
- Provide good, inspirational music.
- Teach the truth, not speculation.
- Let visitors know they’re under no pressure to give money.
- Be friendly, always.

“The Church” is the fellowship of all believers gathered, set apart, united in faith, who belong to Christ as His followers. The local church is the place where ministry and inter-personal encouragement takes place. You will receive a certificate of membership, but your true spiritual credentials are within. Church membership is important, but it is authentic faith in Christ that saves, that makes us Christian.
The majestic Sequoia trees of northern California grow together in groves. They have shallow roots but they intertwine and connect with the other trees, holding each other up. That’s a pretty good description of the church! We need each other.

“You can't get there from here” - Joshua 1, Pastor Bob Leroe, Cliftondale Congregational Church, Saugus, Massachusetts (10 Jan 2016)
Mainers like to say when giving directions, “You can't get there from here”...or more accurately, “You can't get they-ahh from hee-yahh.” The children of Israel must have thought that, journeying through the wilderness to the promised land. It had been a long, grueling journey. Someone ... Read More
