What’s keeping us from worship?

  • We choose alternatives. God gets crowded out by recreation, which seems like a good thing, but not to the extent that our spiritual growth gets stifled.
  • We don’t understand grace. We’ve trusted in the sacrifice of Christ, and figure nothing is needed on our part; “Jesus did it all.”
  • We don’t like hypocrites. This is like avoiding hospitals because we don’t like sick people.  We’re all in need of spiritual healing–some more than others.
  • We follow the easy road and stay with the majority. Most people live for themselves, and we are by nature self-centered.
  • We take comfort in our past devotion and figure we have the right to coast for awhile.
  • We’re lazy. Worship is a discipline.
